UK ETS emissions fall 7% year-on-year

UK ETS verified emissions fell to 79.7 Mt COâ‚‚e in 2025, a 6.9% drop from 2024 and 26% below 2021 levels. Unlike previous years, the latest decline was not driven by power-sector decarbonisation, but by sharp contractions in heavy industry, with Metals, Chemicals and Oil & Gas together accounting for 84% of the emission contraction.
